All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for that rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Smethwick, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit are necessary, as well as any other criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Smethwick office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards through secure payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties to document the vehicle's state. Ensure that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damages will be evaluated and charged as necessary. 5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability. It is prudent to review these options. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms is your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure that the vehicle is used within its intended purpose and adheres to passenger and weight limits. Travel outside the designated geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by law in England and Wales, Car Hire Smethwick will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the amount you paid for the rental in the past year. This does not cover liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or for fraudulent activities.
