All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines important terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Smethwick, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the type of vehicle. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, with a minimum holding period as outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you need to present valid identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit are also necessary, along with any other criteria detailed in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made directly on our website, via phone, or at our Smethwick office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. Please return the vehicle in the same state as it was received, taking into account reasonable wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure that the fuel level matches what was provided at the start of your rental, as refueling fees will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. Should you foresee a late return, contact us as soon as possible, as additional fees may be incurred. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges accrued during your rental period, plus a handling fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be offered to help lower your financial liability. It's advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Your Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or any other risky endeavors is not permitted. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or permitting unauthorized drivers is against our policy. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden, as is exceeding passenger or weight limits or operating outside designated geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Smethwick will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are regulated under English and Welsh law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in England and Wales.
10. Modifications to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
